SKIN IS A LANGUAGE

What

A study of the different human skin's layers, creation of a palette of textures and colors, to reproduce the different skins' layers from different scaled views.

Why

The choice of this study lies on the interest given to the appearance in our societies, regardless for the time or location in history.

Although this subject can be qualified superficial, it still leads our common appreciation of our environments.

How

Largely inspired by the cosmetic industry, this project aims to create a design language, a visual identity through different mediums, using both natural and highly chemical raw material to experiment a conjoncture between nature and our society.

ANALYZE AND REPRODUCTION

ANALYZE AND REPRODUCTION

Analyze of the different layers and lines of human skin, inspired by microscopic views and scientific sketches.

Fantasize a complex organ, that implies identity, ethic and health while being submitted to aesthetics constraints. Skin is a material able to illustrate the absurdity of aesthetics criteria's (no)limits. The New York Times recently analyzed this problematic from a consumption angle.

COLORS

A geographic analyze of bodies' colors

Added to a proper analyze on a given subject, the product identifies itself to its creator thanks to a visual identity, likened to the designer's body itself rather than her tastes.

In deed, not to split up the head from the body by visually expressing body elements to translate a societal analyze, could be a sort of language, a creation in its whole, a way to share a personal commitment in a given subject.

Study one body's colors : Analyze the diversity of colors, their evolution and their temporality (some are ephemeral, common or in motion), but also light as a key factor since it modify the perception we have of our body. For exemple, one can see blue veins while they are red, because red wavelengths are longer than the blue ones, and veines deep under layers of skin.
