DUTCH DESIGN WEEK
FLOWERS OF THE NETHERLANDS
Flowers of the Netherlands was designed for a limited collection of classic house furnitures such as wallpapers, curtains, ceramic tile and vases, mixing old fashion codes, from the choice of the medium to the encyclopedic style drawings.
Going along the Arts and Crafts' movement in terms of codes and design process, the chosen subject tends yet toward the gender issues and, in this case, a celebration of Nature.
All made by hand, those illustrations depict female and male genitals and plants, gathered as floral compositions.
"With those patterns, I wanted to map the sexual attributes of the human body, playing with the codes of floral compositions. Putting this imagery on walls and objects, was for me a way to claim the beauty and the complexity of what's hidden, unknown and what's society makes us be ashamed of."
